A month after its premiere, “Y: The Last Man” has been canceled by FX on Hulu according to showrunner Eliza Clark.
In a statement shared via Twitter on Sunday, Clark confirmed the series’ cancellation saying, “We have learned that we will not be moving forward with FX on Hulu for Season 2 of Y: The Last Man. I have never in my life been more committed to a story, and there is so much left to tell.”
Clark added, “Y: THE LAST MAN is about gender, about how oppressive systems inform identity. We had a gender diverse team of brilliant artists, led by women at almost every corner of our production.”
“It is the most collaborative, creatively fulfilling, and beautiful thing I have ever been a part of. We don’t want it to end,” she continued.

The news of the cancellation comes just weeks before the series’ season 1 finale on Nov. 1.
Actress Amber Tamblyn, who plays Kimberly Cunningham in the series, also took to Twitter to express her disappointment with the cancellation.
“While I’m disappointed, I know this extraordinary show that has so much to say will find a great new home soon. Looking forward to the next chapter. If you’re with me, let the world know.” Tamblyn wrote.
#YTheLastMan will not get a second season on FX and while I’m disappointed, I know this extraordinary show that has so much to say, and that says it so well, will find a great new home soon. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Adapted from Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerrara’s 2005 comic book of the same name, “Y: The Last Man” premiered its first three episodes on FX on Hulu on Sept. 13.
The DC Comics-based drama follows the survivors of a cataclysmic event that kills every mammal on Earth with a Y chromosome except for one cisgender man (Ben Schnetzer) and his pet monkey.
The series starred Diane Lane, Ashley Romans, Olivia Thirlby, Juliana Canfield, Elliot Fletcher, Marin Ireland, Amber Tamblyn and Diana Bang.
Y: The Last Man has three more episodes to go of its first (and currently only) season. However, the rest of Season 1 will continue to be released on Mondays via FX on Hulu.
