Movie Review: Fistful of Vengeance

February has seen a mammoth of new movies and series released on Netflix.

There is a lot that to choose what to watch becomes a part time job in itself as one browses through the endless list.

It is from this endless list that Fistful of Vengeance was picked from.

Released Thursday (Feb. 17), Fistful of Vengeance is a final closure and stand alone movie to The Wu Assassin Series that only aired for one season on Netflix in 2019.

In summary it is a “goodbye-kind” of movie to those who followed the Wu Assassins Series.

Leading the cast is Iko Uwais (Kai Jin) best known for acting in the action films Merantau (2009), The Raid (2011), The Raid 2 (2014), Headshot (2016), Mile 22 (2018), The Night Comes for Us (2018), and the Netflix series Wu Assassins (2019).

The plot is centred on a journey undertaken by Iko Uwais and his two friends Lewis Tan (Lu Xin Lee ) and Lawrence Kao ( Tommy Wah ) on a revenge mission.

The tight friends seek to revenge the death of Tommy Wah’s Sister but to do so they will have to fight some gods .

The actual Killer of Tommy Wah’s Sister is  “ Ku An Qi (Yayaying Rhatha Phongam, of Only God Forgives), a supernatural being trying to resurrect Pan Gu, the first man, and reshape the world in her own image.”

To make matters worse, Ku An Qi has a twin Jason Tobin (William Pan). Together they form the Ying Yang power forces of good and evil. The two are working together in order to reshape the world in their own way.

Iko Uwais and team have to stop these two as well as revenge the death of Tommy Wah’s Sister.

Do they live up to the task?

Along the way Tommy Wah seeks the help of Francesca Corney (Preeya),  a guide and friend of his who once showed him around Bangkok. Katrina Grey (Interpol Agent Zama), an acquaintance of Lewis Tan (Lu Xin Lee) also joins in to make the teams number shoot up to five members.

The movie that runs for 1 hour and 34 minutes starts to unveil the climax after one hour of intense action scenes.

The team heads towards the “gods” to stop them from fulfilling their plans.

It seems a suicide mission since of the five members, its only Iko Uwais who was chosen by an ancient force called the Dao to become the Wu Assassin, a fighter endowed with supernatural powers .

The rest are relying on mere Martial arts to fight the final battle . Wish you an incredible time as you watch to see how it all ended .
