Britney Spears is currently under investigation by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department for an alleged misdemeanor battery incident.
According to California law enforcement officials, the singer is being investigated after an employee made a claim on Monday alleging that the “Toxic” pop star had struck her.
The accuser claims Ms Spears confronted her when she returned to the house. The 39-year-old singer is said to have slapped one of her home staff’s mobile phone out of their hands during the encounter. However, a source close to Spears says that the report is a complete fabrication.
According to TMZ , the dispute happened after the houseworker took Spears’ dog to the veterinarian and they argued about the dog’s well-being.
In an email statement, Spears’ lawyer Mathew Rosengart, called the allegation “sensational tabloid fodder.”
“This is … nothing more than an overblown alleged misdemeanor involving a ‘he said she said’ about a cell phone, with no striking and obviously no injury whatsoever,” Rosengart said. “Anyone can make an accusation. This should have been closed immediately.”
An Official from the Sheriff’s Dept. classified the incident as a “very minor misdemeanor,” saying there were no injuries. However, they are still investigating and will submit the file to the District Attorney’s Office, which will decide whether to file a misdemeanor battery charge against Spears.
